Hi, list,

I'm having problems with scp stalling. I ssh from my laptop (on
a 56k dialup link) to my home machine (on a cable modem). From
my home machine, I scp a file (about 2 meg) back to my laptop. I
consistently see the scp status bar go very quickly to ~192k, and
then stop dead. Meanwhile, over on the laptop, the file goes to
16k, or 32k, or sometimes to 64k, but rarely any further, and
I've yet to get all of it.

I don't seem to get any more packets after it stalls. Yet the
initial ssh connection remains active -- I can ^C out of the scp,
and restart it. Whereupon it sends 192k (and I recieve anywhere
from 16k - 64k, as mentioned), and stalls.

This doesn't seem to happen when I connect the two machines over
an ethernet, nor do I have this problem with other machines in
other locations.

I'm running Linux kernel 2.2.16 here on the laptop, and 2.2.15 at
home, running a mostly up-to-date installation of Debian/Woody
both places.

Help?

p.s. I'm new to the list -- is this the right place to be
posting such questions?
