I think you may have a fundamental misunderstanding of what ssh is and
does. Strong encryption is processor-intensive. It is so intensive, in
fact, that there are hardware add-ons available on the market to speed it
up to acceptable levels for commerce. The long and short of it is that
you're doing many, many complicated calculations on each and every byte of
data that you transmit.
You might get the best results by pre-encrypting your files and then using
normal FTP to transmit them.
