I suspect your destination system is a 32-bit Unix variant. Right? If
so, you're running into a fundamental architecture problem.
All such Unixes use 32-bit integers for file access and locking,
yielding a maximum size of 2^31 - 1 = 2GB. This is an obstacle for all
32-bit Unixes, which are in various stages of implementation of a
64-bit extension standard called "LFS", after the X/Open-sponsored Large
File Summit that created it. http://ftp.sas.com/standards/large.file/
You may be accustomed to 64-bit Unixes, such as Solaris for UltraSPARC
(reportedly), or Linux for DEC Alpha (or IA-64), which do not face that
challenge.
