soft soldering

Hi Gang.
  Am beginning the alcohol tank for my Philly and wondered whether it 
is OK to soft solder.  It's made of .032 brass.  I have a choice of 
bending to shape or using angle iron (brass) and rivets to achieve 90 
deg bends (not necessarily cosmetic).  Any thoughts ?
