Vance, perhaps I'm missing something buried in all that writing, but I'm not sure what a patent granted on August 13, 1996 has to do with a valve installed on a locomotive 100 years prior. Maybe it uses a similar principle, but it fails to answer the original question--what is the original valve in question, and what the heck does it do???
