Yet Another Way? jabberd2 supports http://delta.affinix.com/specs/xmppstream.html#myip for some time now. XEP-0279 requires additional round-trip. P.S. Did we get rid of security-mafia from our ranks and revealing its IP address to client is no longer evil? ;-)
