MacOS 8.5 was the buggiest OS that Apple produced - upgrade to 8.6.
I had a lot of problems with 8.5 on my 3000 'max and most disappeared
with 8.6.
I also have had no problems with my USB card - forgot what brand it
is. Can't say about the one you orered though - but from what I have
seen with most 'max users - if it works in an APple branded machine -
it will work in a 'max :)
