<<After due research, I found on the Roxio sight that I
needed Toast 5 Titanium Mac software. This I purchased and installed
(version 5.0). I could read the "Manual" disk but not play music CD's.>>

Have you visited Roxio's site lately? They have a new update for
Titanium out (5.0.1 I believe). As for not being able to play music CD's,
are you sure you have the sound cable properly connected to the CD-R? I know
I'm not able to receive audio on my burner, but that's because the audio
cable is connected to my SCSI CD-ROM. You might want to invest in a cheap
SCSI CD-ROM for you day to day CD needs, as I've heard using the CD-R to load
CDs tends to wear it out quicker.

<<I successfully copied data from a Zip disk onto a CD R (using Mac and PC
Hybrid format). Although in Sesssion Mode, it would not let me record
another file. I could initially read this CD R, but now it says the disk
is incompatible with my computer.>>

What exactly do you mean by "initially"? Do you mean you were able to
read it for a few days and then it stopped, or do you mean it showed up you
burned and after you ejected the CD it wouldn't show up again? I would
suggest trying to burn the same info using the standard Mac Volume option,
and see if you can get that to work. Also, you might want to consider
switching to a different brand of CD-R. I know TDK runs fine on my burner,
but Memorex gives me problems to no end.

<<I tried to burn a file and the device
started and then stopped dead. I could only escape with Force Quit.>>

Yeah, my Aopen does that too sometimes. I find the best way to make sure
that doesn't happen is to burn at lower speeds (usually I burn around 10X,
although it has the capability to burn at 12X). Toast doesn't handle burning
errors too well in my opinion, and I've had to force quit as well.

<<The Apple System
Profiler shows that both the hard drive and the Plextor have ID=0. Where
has a simple lad gone wrong?>>

Both my hard drive and CD burner have ID=0, and so far that hasn't
stopped me yet, so I doubt that's the problem.

Regards,
Scott
