I used to run Napster, and have never had any problems with .MacsterCache
files. However, while Mac OS is extremely flexible with filenames, it is
recommended that certain characters should not be present in filenames,
one of those is a dot (period) preceding a name, as in .MacsterCache.
Therefore, it is possible that some application is having conflicts with
those names and crashing the entire machine. As for what, nothing springs
to mind. It would have to be some program that regularly looks around your
hard disc and grabs lists of all the files in directories. As I said, I
have never had any problems there.

Furthermore, hidden files on the Mac are hidden for a purpose, and care
should be taken before (and even if) deleting them. These files can be
important and are probably best left alone. In fact, Napster was probably
a bit unwise making those files hidden, as they are not system files.

But hey.

PS Of course, I have Aimster now, and that is responsible for far more
crashes than Napster has even been, stupid piece of... ;)
