Yes, I went from 7.6.1 to 9.1 just about directly. I do have 8.1 on one
partition but as I did not have install disks I did not want to rely on it
and did not use it much. I have a host of potential CD drivers, The
original FWB, the new Apple CD/DVD, the patched Apple CD driver and
Speedtools and Toast CD too. So I can run about any CD with one of them but
booting up is another issue. I will try cleaning the head and I will set up
a startup system from the Jaz disk but it still puzzles me why the disks
will not boot and it works instantly off the original SM CD. Oh, I have 4
partitions on my HD so I can use them for cross support and I have an
external SCSI HD for emergencies. I kep wanting to simplify things and keep
getting caught in configutration and support issues. Like I have VPC for OS
7.6.1 which I have not wanted to upgrade so I have that on one partition.
And I want a good backup plan and got Retrospect yeaterday. It would be
nice to have one CD/DVD/CDRW and one HD and have a simple flawless life but
just haven't figured it out yet.
Oh, I have a third CD, a 24XSCSI I could also add but then the driver
issues get even worse and I need an IDE one to run some programs. Anyone
have 3 (or more) CDs, what drivers do you use?
