I was discussing a worse problem with someone in IRC earlier today; she'd
got 4800 cross-linked files on the start-up partition, with numerous other
problems, some of which Norton could fix. However, it was unable to fix the
cross-links (hehe, I don't recall ever having had a cross-link on a Mac,
only on DOS/Win 3.11) and some of the other problems.

The only solution, it seems, is to reformat that partition. However,
indications seem to be that Drive Setup won't format individual partitions,
and I don't trust the Finder's Erase option.

Yet, Norton has always done the job for me, repairing the little errors that
crop up now and then, cheers Norton.
