I used an iBook 9.1 CD ("CD version 2.1") to upgrade from OS 8.6 to 9.1 on
both my Starmax and iMac. No difficulty, so sometimes they work, though the
generic retail version would be the best bet. Got mine for about $20 ebay so
cost about $10 per computer (dont tell Apple- or is this ok?).
