Hi Jim:

The Link to DTT appears to be no good. Is it incorrect or are they gone?

Subject: More suggestions and still no luck....

List members,
I have to say, I've been very impressed with all the
suggestions and advice that has come my way through the list
concerning this Starmax 3000. Unfortunately, to no avail up to now.
We've gone from initially replacing the powersupply about a year ago
(via CompUSA under warrantee) to replacing the 4.5v battery (standard
preliminary choice last week) as well as the infamous "cuda" button
hidden on the motherboard, to checking internal wiring and external
cabling for proper placement. AND making sure that the monitor itself
was in good working order! (Thank you Linda!) and the most recent
suggestion from Lou to try starting up from the OS system CD to see
if that would get the video preferences to show the proper info to
the video section of the motherboard. I tried that twice with no
success either!
I'm pretty close to sending the unit to
http://www.DTTmacintosh.com for their "swapout" program. They'll go
through the machine and swap out the offending piece of hardware for
a refurbed replacement unit. If you go to the URL above you can see
what the cost is and whether it's financially viable. If I don't get
any successful suggestions soon, I think that will be my best
alternative. Remember, this is just going to be a gift for a friend.
Once again, thanks to you all for everything and I'll give it
a few more days for you brainstormers to possibly hit on something
that was missed up to now. Then I'll simply box it up and send it off
to DTT in Ca.

                Regards, Jim
