>I'm pretty close to sending the unit to http://www.DTTmacintosh.com Hi Jim, I tried this link but only came up with an error message. After a bit of searching, I found an active link to www.dttservice.com .... is this the web site that you are talking about? Anyway, I'm not really comfortable with telling you if you should or should not ship your computer to this company. If this were my decision, I'd want to know if they have ever worked on a StarMax and, if so, how many and what kind of repairs they performed on these computers. After talking directly to the so called Macintosh "expert" at both of the two local Motorola authorized repair shops in my area, I found out that they really didn't know anything at all about the StarMax line. Actually, I was rather horrified when both technicians admitted to me that they didn't know very much about how SCSI worked. My computer was still under warrantee, but there was NO WAY that I was going to hand it over to either of these two yoiks! Of course, the other consideration is a financial one. You will be spending around $100.00 just to have these people crack open the computer's case. I personally wouldn't spend even $100.00 to buy a fully functional StarMax. Don't get me wrong; I really like my StarMax, but .... well, I guess that I've just gotten extremely tired of fighting with all of the various limitations of the StarMax line. If you do elect to send it in for repair, keep us posted as it would be very interesting to find out what was actually wrong. Sorry that the list members couldn't solve your problem.
