Some people have done a very great deal of upgrading to these machines,
which lend themselves to this, with some limitations. I have done quite a
bit myself. The ram can be increased to a max of 160 mb (two 64 mb and one
32 mb module). Larger HDs and faster CD drives can be installed, even
CD-RWs. A G3 card can be installed which uses the L2 cache slot (several
manufacturers, incl Sonnet). Dont know about G4 cards- maybe?
OS can be upgraded to 9 (no X). Zip and Jaz drives can be installed, USB
and/or fireware cards, network cards and video cards ( all PCI). There are 5
PCI slots, so plenty of room.
Ask a question about the specific upgrades you're most interested in and you
should get more info.
