We have a Pacific Digital USB CD-RW to use with several Macs. It works just fine on my husband's Powerbook and on an older iMac. But on my StarMax, it spins and spins and never finishes writing the disk. I've left it alone for several hours to see what would happen. Nothing.
Apple System Profiler recognizes the device. Toast sees it, and goes through the motions. But so far I have not been able to write one disk. I've tried it connected to a Belkin external USB hub, and when that was unsuccessful, directly to the USB PCI card. Your thoughts are appreciated. nan -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:starmax@;mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:starmax-off@;mail.maclaunch.com> For digest mode, email: <mailto:starmax-digest@;mail.maclaunch.com> Subscription questions: <mailto:listmom@;lowendmac.com> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> --------------------------------------------------------------- >The Think Different Store http://www.ThinkDifferentStore.com ---------------------------------------------------------------
