Thanks to you and jr for the heads up welcome!

This machine was sitting on a shelf of a frequently-visited, often over-priced
thrift shop
near me. I could have had a Mac 6360 for $100.99. (hee hee hee).

On the other hand, this box was only $30. Came with 48MB of ram and a 512k
cache stick
as well as a 2MB VRAM stick and a 2 gig hard disk.

Gave me the frozen startup, just hung at the smiling Mac, until I added
another, known-working
drive in place of the CD ROM and fired it up. After running Disk Dr. three
times, and Speed Disk
to smooth out fragments, she now boots happily on her own with all the stuff
she had in her intact.

I'm particularly fascinated with the use of a PS2 keyboard and mouse, and the
IDE-ATAPI CD ROM.
Having owned, for a short time, a Umax C500, I must say it seems as if the
Motorola feels the quicker
of the two. (Both are 160Mhz.). And both top out at the same memory limit. That
high-priced RAM that this
Tanzania board must use is a problem. If I find a cheaper source, this Max will
be at its upper limit. When I cruised
the eBay sales, I found some good deals on whole machines. Some full of that
RAM and other goodies. Maybe I'll
just get another machine or two, or three......
