Recently, the Starmax 3000/200 I inhereted (recall my ethernet
questions) recieved new ram. Up untill that point, it only had the
factory 32mb. I decided it was finally time to max it out so I could run
more than one program on it at a time in 9.1. Knowing that the required
ram would be rare, I started the shopping. After a recomendation I heard
on this list, I checked out Other World Computing. The ram there was
about half of the price I was seeing at other sites, so I figured I had
found a good deal. Unfortunately, the ram I recieved was defective.
Fatally so. One of the pins was missing on one stick, but I only
realized this when the comp wouldn't boot and I reopened the case. I was
greeted with the wonderful smell of very hot plastic. The ram stick had
overheated causing fatal damage to the motherboard, meaning it wouldn't
even boot with just the origional 32mb stick in it's origional position.
The worst part is that OWC isn't even responding to my emails. The least
they could do is dignify me with a response!

Erik
