I'm such a noodge. I traded some PM 8500 memory modules for a 64MB 3.3v 50-ns DIMM that I thought would fit my Starmax 3000. At first glance it looked like it should pop right in, but just wouldn't go. Closer examination reveals that the little arch slots on the contact edge of the card are about 1/16" from where they would have to be to fit the slot on the motherboard. The contact pins line up with the existing RAM modules. It's just those little humps in the mother board slot prevent insertion.
SO, what should I do? Is this a mis-fit piece, or is it supposed to fit some other MAC machine? I have the handyman's urge and small rotary tools that I could cut those little slots a little bit wider to make the RAM module fit the memory slot. If I did that to make it fit, would it work? Or am I stuck with a memory module that wouldn't function in my Starmax anyway? If I widened those little slots just to try it, what else could I potentially screw up in my Starmax? --Frank B. -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
