I have a Starmax 3000/180.

Vimage G3 L2 Cache upgrade card.

Running OS 9.1.

Coherency Installed in Startup items folder.

Keyspan USB PCI card-2 ports

Asante Ethernet PCI card -1 port

IX 3D Ultimate- Rez 1.0.1-2 monitor connectors

Orange Micro PCI Firewire Card-3 ports

The machine works fine (with or without Coherency) with any three
cards any combination, any PCI slot.

When I first added the Firewire to the set (making 4 cards) the
firewire hard drive would crash the computer.

I switched the cards around, with the Orange Micro in slot 1. The
drive then worked for several months.

All 4 worked fine.

Then few weeks ago I was setting the Appletalk Control panel to the
Ethernet port.

The computer crashed completely.

Thereafter Ethernet Port selection in appletalk would crash computer.

Tried switching cards around.

Problem with ethernet port selection went away but computer became
very unstable:

Spellcheck in MS word crashed computer
Pressing Begin in Tech tool Pro v 3.0.7 crashed computer
Downloading email using Eudora crashed computer
Copying files from internal drive to firewire drive in finder crashed
computer
Trying to connect with crossover cable to powerbook crashed computer

My guess: seems like any time it accessed anything on PCI card crashed
computer
(although why word crashed is beyond me).

When I remove a 4th pci card problems go away.

Coherency does not solve this problem.

Happens no matter what drive I start up from. Did clean install 3 times. No improvement.

So right now I'm using the Starmax without the IX 3D Ultimate- Rez,
with 256 colors on one monitor (instead of millions of colors on two
monitiors).

Given that it worked for several months before, with all 4 cards
installed, without Coherency installed, I imagine it could work again.

Any ideas how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated?
