Define "not recognise"? Where did you plug the drive in - in place of the
CD-ROM drive or existing hard disc? (correct way) Or as a slave drive on the
same cable as an existing drive? (wrong way - won't work on a StarMax)

And did you successfully boot off your normal drive or a system CD-ROM and
have the new hard disc's icon not show up on the desktop? Or did the machine
not boot at all?

And what format is the new drive? Mac or PC? The Mac should be able to read
either, although if it's PC format you'll want to reformat it anyhow :)


But yes, as Todd says, boot from a system CD and go into Drive Setup. The
drive should show up in there, and you'll be able to format it, hopefully.


I'm curious now as to what I did when I got this - I assume my drive came
unformatted - I forget now. Either way, it's a 30 Gb 7200 RPM drive - works
fine - just booted from the OS 9 CD and formatted it. I think people have
rather bigger drives in StarMaxen than this, too.
