Second question, is there a way to back up my wife's Powerbook running OS10 to the SM? Maybe just data files?

Since my CD Burner is on my PowerBook, I usually go the other way, backing up the StarMax to CD on the PowerBook. However, I would imagine that it would work just as well the other way. What I do is mount the disk to be backed up on my Powerbook via AppleTalk (we have a home ethernet lan), and then back up the selected items. Mounting the HD via AppleTalk to the StarMax and backing up from there should work just as well.

As to the files to back up, if your wife is neat and leaves all her important stuff in her home directory like a good Unix user should, then just back up her home directory, or whatever makes sense in the home directory.
