Firewire works fine in 9.x. The download is here <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58642> but I seem to remember it was built-in to 9.1. Check your extensions folder and see what's there (I'm running X).
David........
My OS9.1 has 2 Firewire extensions (Firewire Enabler and Firewire Support - both are v. 2.7).
More importantly, are you running OS X on your SM5500? ......... last I heard you were still on 9.1. Did I miss something?
Regards....... Kirk
I'm running OS X on my PM 9600. My SM 5500 is still at OS 9.1 and is my audio editing/gaming machine. Sorry about the confusion. Since you have the 2.7 extensions already, a PCI Firewire card should work with no problems. Make sure it is listed as Macintosh compatible.
