Does that mean I need the retail version of 9.0 instead of a machine specific version of OS9(imac, G3 etc)?
I have already downloaded the 9.1 upgrade from Apple but of course you need to start from 9.0 or better for that to work.
Has anybody made a machine specific OS9 disk load on their Starmax.
(Thanks to all who have replied so far).

My second post. My first one appears to have not gotten through. I have a SM 3000/180. It has 96MB of RAM, a 2GB hardrive, OS 8.6 and a Keyspan USB card. I just bought an ethernet card (Realtek chipset) on eBay and the seller gave me a website with drivers for a lot of stuff. I wanted to add a firewire card but would need to upgrade to OS9 or better. I have been hearing that 9.1 is better 9.04. I tried to load 9.02 from a Powerbook CD and it didn't work. It booted from the CD but when I tried to run the installer it said it could not run on this computer. How can I get a copy of 9.1 or even 9.04. I want to use this machine as a server, would I be better off with an IDE drive vs. trying to make a firewire/OS 9 upgrade work. Thanks.
Hi Michael,
Well I'm out here on Salt Spring Island with my OS 9 CD and my 9.1 update CD
so that's not much help. . . but I'd look around your neighborhood for an OS 9
CD and then I believe you can download the 9.1 update. Don't stay at 9 though!
Any schools in your neighborhood using Macs, where the friendly Mac maintenance
guy might help you out?
I use 9.1 in my 9500. Just got a Starmax 3000/200 today and have gutted and cleaned it out but startup waits till I get a 4.5v battery tomorrow. . . from a friendly Mac Maintenance guy. :-)
The cover comes off the Starmax Power Suopply real easy. I use long bristled
brushes and a running vacuum cleaner with a brush on it in my other hand,
to get all that heat-trapping dust out.
Cheers, Terry
