My son has a 20GB early ipod which he generally uses with our Powerbook G4Ti400. He has it set to sync with a particular playlist. I have now added a firewire card to my Starmax. I have an earlier version of itunes (itunes 2) and would like to be able to add some songs from the SM to the ipod but as I read itunes it looks like it would erase the current ipod songs and replace them with the SM itunes library. Is there some way to connect the ipod to add songs from the SM without conflicts on the ipod? If I can add some songs what will happen when the ipod is later connected to the Powerbook?
This is function of how iTunes works with the iPod. Each install of iTunes wants to be the 'owner' of any iPod connected to it and replace any music on the iPod with what it has loaded. Best idea would be to transfer the music from the SM to the G4, add it to the iTunes library there and then sync the iPod.
