I do not know if my comments will be of use however:
I run a Starmax 4000/200 and just upgraded from 8.5 to 8.6 to 9.1 using
a chap who sells 'upgrade' disks. My disk drive that came with the 'Max
is a PC one and needs its own software that was on the original disk,
Apple software will not run it. Which sometimes can be a pain, ye it is
a bullet proof drive!
However 9.1 is loaded and rock solid as much as these things can be. I
had no problem with the drive or the load. Probably could have just gone
8.5 to 9.1 looking back at it!
I have not gone the G3 Sonnet route, maybe later I will.
I have, just to see, put an Apple G3 software disk in the StarMax and it
just tells me to bugger off cos this is for a different system proccessor!

All the best
Michael
