My experience is that without adequate RAM, OSX is so slow as to be useless.
Like Nathan, I have a beige G3 mt/300, all original except for a 7200RPM 8MB
cache HD, running 10.2.1. I was testing RAM modules, and with only 160 MB of
RAM installed, it took like 3-4 minutes to boot, and the spinning beachball
appeared often, especially if more than one application was open. I now have
768MB of RAM (maximum for the beige G3), and the beachball is seldom seen, yet
OS 9 applications run MUCH faster on this beige G3.

A careful reading of the original OSX "success" report on the Yahoo group
Starmax-talk reveals that OS 10.1 was used, a less mature version of OSX. To
my knowledge no one else has confirmed that OSX will run on a 'Max, and the X-
PostFacto readme for the latest version (at Other World Computing) does not
mention compatibility with Tanzania motherboards.

Just my .02

David
