Let's discuss on fosdem. Depending on which platform identi.ca runs, I am
sure we can assist in debugging, performance monitoring etc.

I have become so addicted ^H dependant of identi.ca that everytime there is
a problem it feels like a good friend has pain.

The problem ATM is the missing feedback. You have no failwhale to indicate
there is a problem. Here is a suggestion.

Have a special account called status. Whenever I send a message to @status I
get back a reply with turnaround times for web posting, XMPP posting, API
posting.

Publish that info on the footer of the web page. Have a little checker that
alarms @support when these times exceed some treshold.

We do actually put some time and effort into QA'ing the service, but
it's a big and complex site. We provide quite a few services that aren't
available anywhere else, including posting by XMPP.

We simply can't replicate the diversity of XMPP clients, Web API
clients, browsers, and crawlers that exist "in the wild".

That's a great question. Obviously, more developer effort would be
great. More people installing and testing the tip of the developer
stream is awesome.

From a user perspective, being patient with us when identi.ca is
upgraded is one of the biggest things. Reporting bugs when they come up
is another. Realizing that upgrade times are hard for everyone, and that
we really do care about fixing problems.
