Well... I couldn't find any reference to the feature in the PACE Manual; I
just turned it on from the STFax Independant Mode Config. I think I might
turn it off, as you suggest. Pity though, it seems a good idea in
principle.

Thanks to all the responses from this list, I've been there, done that, and
now all I have to do is see how it works. The update worked well, thanks
