Hi Craig ,now you're pretty right for most of it with the exeception of
some flaws.:-)
Some people want just to try Linux or it happens that they have their
primary HDD already taken
by Windows so they have to go Linux on a second HDD ot they don't know
what they're doing(newbies or
first starters) and they end with Linux on logical partitions(because
that's how Microsoft taught them-one primary partition/hard drive)....
I can continue but my point is:You're right if one knows enough about
computers and OS's in general
and wrong when speaking about newbies who are just starting with Linux.
Also when you speak Microsoft don't forget one thing, regardless of all
this Linux hype very few
people(I'm one of them) will run Linux as their main desktopOS where
Win98 still rules.
Linux is playing way better in the server market against NT and NT does
install a bootloader in the mbr.
No difference here whatsoever between Microsoft and the Linux crowd who
installs lilo in mbr.:-)
Now this mailing-list doesn't have too many people who don't have a
clue about computers but I've seen
a lot in NG's and trust me..even tough some people should take a course
computers101 they don't and
some of them will buy a commercial Linux distro and they're usually the
main market for Linux companies
so for them installing Linux in mbr makes a lot of sense IMHO .
All the best
