First of all... running NT on that 486 will be like beating your head
against a wall. A cement wall. But hey, it's your life.
You have no need to use any FAT32 filesystems. NT can't handle FAT32,
so there's no point in using it. You'll want to use NTFS for your NT
partition(s), and ext2 for your Linux partition(s). Actually, I'm
advising people to use ReiserFS instead of ext2 for as many partitions
as possible, but at your stage of knowledge you probably don't want
to mess with that yet. Ext2 is nothing special, but it'll get the
job done for now.
You'll want to upgrade your computer's BIOS. Assuming you have a
flashable BIOS, visit the BIOS manufacturer's website and download
a BIOS flasher utility. Otherwise... bleh.
I personally always advise against seperate /boot partitions.
Just remember this rule: keep any partitions you want to boot
from under the 1024th cylinder. Do that, and you won't NEED
a seperate boot partition.
Good luck.
