I'm trying to go through and optimize my system. Removing stuff I don't
want, installing stuff I do, trying to use the new task-* packages for
dependencies and so on. I want to optimize my gnome menus as well.

NOTE: remember that I installed HAIL as an apt-get dist-upgrade from RAIN.

First, where is the KDE menu stored? I don't use KDE, why should I see menu
references to it in my Gnome menu. how do I get rid of it? I can't seem to
find the file(s) for it anywhere.

Second, often after installing apps/task packages the new items do not
appear in the gnome menu system. for example, I installed task-helix-gnome
which then installs gnomeicu. However, gnomeicu does not appear in the
"internet" menu, and in fact it doesn't appear in any of the menus. The same
is said for grip which should be in the multimedia section and is not
anywhere. On my RedHat partition, all these things are placed in the proper
menu structure when I use Helix-update to grab the new goodies. I've tried
deleting my ~/.gnome and ~/.gnome-desktop directories but that does not
solve the problem. the problem is references to these applications are not
being set up correctly in the debian/storm packages so that the gnome menus
can pick them up.

I notice that some task-* packages cross-depend on items. For example,
task-helix-gnome installs gnomeicu which is also set up as a dependency for
task-gnome-net (which I don't have installed, just using for an example).
similarly, gnome-panel is a dependency of task-helix-core (which gets
installed by task-helix-gnome) but it's also a dependency of
task-gnome-desktop which I also have installed (version 1.0.3). It might be
a left-over from RAIN. Also in this vein, gnotes gets removed after
installing task-helix-gnome but gnotes is a dependency of task-gnome-apps.
What should be installed if I want to use all Helix stuff?

Finally, where is the Helix update tool? it would be nice to have it here
since they support Debian packages, I can go and get the latest goodies when
I want instead of waiting for them to filter through and be made available
at the storm ftp site.

Thanks in advance.
