Hello.

Firstly, thanks Ryan, for helping me sort out which libc5 package I
needed.

I have been trying to get Eagle-3.55r3e running on Storm2000. This
package runs happily on Mandrake 7.0-2, but segfaults on Storm. I had
to install the libc5 packages to "allow" this software to work, although
so far it does not.

There are a few things (about the screen output) that puzzled me when I
did:
        ldd /opt/eagle-3.55r3e/bin/eagle

This claims that a bunch of the libraries cannot be found, although they
are in the exact same place as in the Mandrake installation. I forced
the issue by symlinking (temporarily) from /usr/lib/ to the libs in
/usr/X11R6/lib/ resulting (in the strace o/p) in the libs being found,
but then the process ends with a segfault. So... the question is what
could be so different between Storm and Mandrake? Is there some
environment variable that I am not aware of that controls paths to libs
so that the stubs in executables can use them? My /etc/ld.so.config
contains all the library paths (actually it's identical to that for the
Mandrake install) that are wanted/needed for the task at hand, and I
have done ldconfig after installing the libc5 pkgs.

I can provide the strace spew which I've redir'd to a file, if that
helps. I've considered talking to the Eagle people about this, but the
fact that the same tarball installs and works on Mandrake (of the same
CD-ROM) suggests that the executable isn't the whole issue.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Many thanks in advance,
Mike
