I have been following this thread because it started out with a request
for help with a Promise UDMA controller. I have a Promise 20267 (Ultra
100) pci card and the Hail install does not recognize hard disks on this
card.
The card is supported in the 2.4.0-test kernels and with a back port of
this driver to the 2.2.16 kernel. The back port patch is available from:
ftp.kernel.org as
/pub/linux/kernel/people/hedrick/bkz/ide.2.2.16.20000619.patch.bz2
To the best of my knowledge, Suse 7.0 is the only distribution which
includes the necessary patches.
Does Stormlinux have a root or boot kernel with support for the Promise
202xx controller? Right now it seems that I will have to install Hail
with the
hard disk connected to a different controller, then patch and rebuild
the kernel, and finally move the hard disk to the Promise controller.
Dave
