Thanks for your help.  When I looked at the output from dmesg I realized that I
had a irq conflict with my sound card..  I couldn't get SAS to do anything with
my card even as root, I was able to use ifconfig however.
I'm not sure how to do dhcp, I'm trying to get up to speed on networking.  I'm
going to do a little looking tonight.
