Okay, here is what happened:
I was trying to use emacs to edit the file. Unfortunately, emacs isn't configured
to work in a terminal with the install I chose. When I used vi I had no problem
editing sources.list. I was successfully able to install ssh. Does anyone know
what the rationale for commenting out the lines in this file was?
