I don't believe your assumption to be correct, at least not completely.  Unstable 
packages run pretty much as "bleeding-edge" as any other distro.  I don't think market 
share has much to do with a good product, look at Microsoft.  Also, McDonald's sells 
many burgers above anyone else but I wouldn't consider it the best burger because of 
that, actually McDonalds food is pretty bad.  I have used Mandrake, Slack and pure 
Debian.  I really like storm due to the slightly faster install and some of the tools 
they use (more of a convenience than anything else).  

  I would recommend to you to try as many distros as you can and eventually you'll 
find one you'll like.  I just happen to like Storm the best.
