Or you could become an OS addict as I am and not worry about which but
instead choose all.

With a large hd (I have a 45G Maxtor and a 20G deskstar) and a good
bootloader (I use SystemCommander 2000) you can install as many versions of
linux as you wish.
You will find uniqueness with each and each will deserve its place.

On my system I have currently installed DOS, StormLinux (it is the
downloaded ISO but I have ordered the Deluxe), Mandrake 7.2 Deluxe, BeOS
Pro. Waiting to be installed are BSD and SuSE.

BTW,I had RH 7.0 installed but when you have run Mandrake for any time RH
seems almost lame.

As to updates, each distro has their own timeline and procedure for posting
of updates but there is nothing that prevents you from updating from sources
other than the vendor.
That is one of the beauties of linux you can customize it and make it suit
and work for you.
You control it. It dosn't try to control you.

Subject: [SLU] Debian or RH7 help

Hello,

I just purchased a boxed version of Storm Deluxe.
My system is currently running RH7.
I'm having second thoughts of going with a debian base package over
RH7. I like the fact that RH7 would normally get updated sooner than
a debian version of linux. Am I correct in assuming this?
I also feel that RH7 is a better choice because of their market share, but
don't like the fact that they charge you to use their update agent.

I really need some feedback from users who are experienced in linux and
it's versions.

Thanks for the help.

Frank
