Subject: SV: [Stoves] The Biochar myth..another stovers myth
Dear Rajan,
does not composting also release Methan (CH4), which is considered as the
culpit of climate change gazes?
Methane is definitely a more powerful greenhouse gas compared to CO2.
But in today's situation, CO2 is released in much larger quantities (
thermal power plants, transport, etc. ) - and hence the leading culprit.
Biomethanisation ( which is purely anaerobic ) gives off more quantities of
methane.
In composting, we have aerobic composting, anaerobic composting and
vermicomposting.
Now regarding the actual quantities of methane released in various
composting methods - I do not have the expertise to comment.
Hope somebody in this list will give some valuable information support
regarding this.
Best Regards,
Rajan
