I'd love to volunteer - but not sure if I'll be able to handle the job all
on my own. My kids need shoes too...
I'll be happy to coordinate this - but would appreciate if anyone has
particulary strong feelings about a thread being covered, they should throw
me a line directly on it. Given the traffic on this list, I'll likely not
be able to read every message every day...
Maybe we can use an [EDITOR] flash in the subject if someone wants to get
my attention or something...

Subject: Re: [WANTED] Struts Editor for Jakarta Newsletter
We're getting a little bit off topic here, but the typical reply to a
posting like this is going to be "Thanks for volunteering".
Many places have been provided where someone "can spend some time going
over the issues that the people who are using struts in the real world"
have. All that's missing is a person. I put together a lists of what I
thought some of the current threads (now) were
http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/newbie.html
and any time someone wants to send along some XML, I'd be happy to apply
the patch.
Once upon a time, we also put together some things just linking to the
threads, which worked fairly well.

http://www.husted.com/struts/FAQ/view-threads.htm
http://www.husted.com/struts/FAQ/controller-threads.htm
Over at JGuru,
http://jguru.com/forums/Struts
there's also places where a person could start voting on threads to be
converted into FAQs. And if someone started to do that for a time, I'd
probably get them admin access there. Given a steady stream of
documentation patches or additions, a person could probably earn
Committer status here too.
I'd love to spend more time on it myself, but the kids need shoes.
MEANWHILE,
As for the Jakarta Newsletter, what's being proposed on the General List
is a high-level summary, like what you might say to your boss at a
meeeting about "What's happening on the Struts lists".
http://www.mail-archive.com/general%40jakarta.apache.org/msg05603.html
Regardless of what happens with the Jakarta Newsletter, any time someone
wants to start posting [RECAP]'s, I'll commit them to the News and
Status page, so they don't get lost in the shuffle.

While I agree there is way too much chatter on the lists these days, we
still are a long ways from the types of flame wars you see on Perl
lists, and even elsewhere in Jakarta =:o)
-T.
