Sure, but a debugger is not a panacea to cure all ills, and in some situations unwarranted: mounting intermediate .java files generated from JSPs in order to debug the pages, just to solve a relatively simple debugging problem, is perhaps not the path of least resistance, IMHO.
Debuggers are great, I agree 100%, but the best debugger I've ever seen is between my ears.
