Yeah this is definitely not a Struts problem :) I have ran Linux for years and I did have problems with 1.3.1 running on Debian with a newer glibc. Also, I have heard of issues with initial thread sizes,etc.. I would check out: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.3.1/install-linux-sdk.html
