The Commons Logging component was developed primarily so that someone who elects to use other Commons components is not locked in to a specific logging framework. In other words, we didn't want to have to tell people that if they wanted to use BeanUtils, for example, then they would have to use Log4J or whatever - that wouldn't fly. If you have the same need in your own applications, then you are, of course, free to use Commons Logging yourself. Beyond that, it's really a question of your own needs. The various logging frameworks have differing sets of functionality, although I'm not sufficiently familiar with them myself to accurately describe those differences. At my company, we elected to go with JDK 1.4 logging, because we were already using JDK 1.4, and the logging framework is "just there", and met our needs. -- Martin Cooper > > also i had a question about the configuration file for the > loggin using jdk1.4. where does this go in a typical > tomcat/struts setup? > > thanks, > mark > > -- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: > <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > For additional commands, e-mail: > <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For additional commands, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For additional commands, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
