Sory if this has allready been proposed, I didn't read this thread from begining.
Did you try something like this :
<logic:iterate name="EMPHashMap" id="mapEntry">
uid = <bean:write name="mapEntry" property="key">
Date of joining = <bean:write name="mapEntry" property="value.joining">
</logic:iterate>
