Danny Hillis, inventor of the Connection Machine (massively parallel processing), is working for Disney now and wants to build a clock that will work for 10,000 years. The connection to sundials comes from the design of the face and the type of information displayed there, the fact that it is intended to maintain the accuracy of the clock by synchronizing it with the sun, and the intention to build the thing with essentially bronze age technology.
