Thank you, Gianni! I think this really puts the ideas of the various forms of styles or gnomons in clear perspective. After digesting your notes, I sketched the attached drawing. In this 2-dimensional sketch, I mean for the Azimuthal (vertical) and Hour-Angle gnomons to intersect in the dial plane, and the Azimuthal, Altitudinal, and Meridianal gnomons to intersect at mutual right angles, a little above the dial plane. Does this look correct?
