Hello--

I was in a garden shop recently and noticed they had 8 brass or 
bronze sundials on display, with half of the gnomons mounted 
backwards.  At a quick glance, these were sundials which would work 
reasonably well if the gnomon were installed correctly.

But how about the sundials on this web page?

Here we see an assortment of flaws, including backward gnomons.  No 
wonder some of the public believe sundial time is a joke!

I especially wonder how the triangular sundial (see small attached 
image) was designed to function.
