Yes Craig that is what I did. I know I can do a utconfig -u, and reconfigure
but I was hoping there was a better way.

Do you mean from a server that had utconfig ran and answered no to a
failover group?  No.

If you mean not having to effect sessions on the primary, then sort of. 
  This is one of the reasons it is recommended having a stand-alone primary
so you won't affect any live users with add/deletes.
