I can't seem to stifle the urge to throw in my two cents, so here goes:
If something doesn't give with the cost of the DTU and RTU, our last purchase of sunrays could be the last one, period. I can deploy a well-equipped linux box for the same price as the last sunray system we purchased; the cost of the DTU+RTU alone is quite nearly there.
Three factors decided on our Sun/sunray purchase: price per desktop, ease of management, and application availability. More and more of our applications are available on linux; we are now at or near the point where we could feasibly switch platforms. The RTU license killed the price per desktop advantage, and making my life as a sysadmin easier doesn't carry all that much weight with anyone except me. |:
I realize this is a support oriented list, but as someone else said, maybe marketing or management are listening in.
