/etc/init.d/utsyscfg is the one which loads utadem, utio, utdisk modules
on system reboot.
Thanks for the hint.
After submitting the four mknod commands mentioned in utsyscfg (using
the correct values for major/minor number), sound and USB-sticks are
working again without a reboot.

Guido
P.S. The mknod commands created the following devices:
# ls -la /dev/ut*
crw------- 1 root root 14, 3 2007-09-11 13:45 /dev/utadem
brw------- 1 root root 253, 0 2007-09-11 13:47 /dev/utdisk
crw------- 1 root root 250, 0 2007-09-11 13:47 /dev/utdiskctl
crw------- 1 root root 251, 0 2007-09-11 13:45 /dev/utio
Thanks

Hi,
after a kernel-update (2.6.18-4 to 2.6.18-5) sound and USB-sticks are
no longer working on our Sun Ray Server (Debian Etch, SRS 3.1.1).
After reboot I compiled the kernel modules for 2.6.18-5 and used
modprobe to load the modules:
$ lsmod | grep ut
utadem 28764 0
soundcore 10016 1 utadem
utdisk 7620 0
utdiskctl 16104 1 utdisk
utio 22640 0
button 7440 0
autofs4 20516 1
A warm restart of the Sun Ray Service using utrestart did not help.
Do I have to do a cold restart of SRS or even to reboot the server in
order to get sound/USB-sticks working again?
Yours,
Guido
